Over 700 clients joined WPP Media’s first UK Media Essentials programme: Here’s what they learned
The media and marketing world is always changing, and to succeed businesses need a strong grasp of what’s happening and the ability to adapt quickly. To help clients stay one step ahead, we launched Media Essentials – WPP Media’s first UK training programme designed to build confidence, sharpen understanding and provide practical tools for navigating today’s media landscape.
As our first ever training programme exclusive for WPP Media clients, the Media Essentials course kicked off with in person gatherings across our London and Manchester campuses. This free training was designed to help our clients master the foundations of modern media and marketing.
The course ran across 2026, drawing on the collective expertise of leading voices from across WPP Media to build a shared understanding of how today’s media ecosystem works – from core principles through to the forces shaping the future.
Our inaugural session ‘How Marketing Works’, saw a turnout of over 500 clients joining both in-person and online; this engagement followed over 700 registrations from more than 100 renowned brands. Across the course of 12-weeks, we upskilled our clients in multiple areas including Total Search, Data 101, Video & Screens, Social, AI & Marketing, Addressable, Audio, Podcasts and Publishing, OOH, Sports, Entertainment and Culture, Retail Media and Measurement & Effectiveness.
Those who completed the programme attained a certificate and a badge along with access to an ongoing learning hub and expert community to continue growth. Our clients were not only equipped with actionable insights that could be applied within their day-to-day roles, but access to ongoing growth potential within the learning hub.
The Media Essentials programme offered more than just training – it helped clients navigate constant change, build stronger partnerships, and stay ahead of a rapidly evolving industry. We celebrated the completion of the programme at our Graduation drinks in July, but the learning doesn’t stop there. With ongoing access to resources, experts and a wider client community, the programme is designed to keep helping clients build confidence, sharpen their knowledge and navigate what comes next in media.
